Resetting Nitecore Tube

2017/02/16 By staze 9 Comments

I bought a Nitecore Tube Flashlight a few weeks back and really liked how well it worked, for how small it was. Then, my son was playing with it one day and it stopped working.

So, figured it just needed charging. Which, I did. The battery appears to be about 33mAh btw. Anyway, after charging, it still didn’t work. I started a return with Amazon, and while playing with it, I decided to hold the power button while plugging into USB. It immediately started working again! Unplugged USB, and it still works.

So, there seems to be some type of state the little IC gets into where it refuses to turn on again. Maybe when the battery dies rather suddenly while in a certain state. Anyway, resetting it isn’t covered in the manual. So this seems to do it.

Good luck for anyone if they have this issue. =)

    Didn’t worked for me.

Currently I only get the tube to work, by holding pwr all the time. As soon as I release it stopping to work.

Interesting. I found on a Big Clive video that there’s apparently a “lockout” mode on these, where you can lock the unit by clicking the power button. Nitecore apparently finally posted something on this here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OA22F-lYtoU

Thanks a lot! My Tube is still pretty new and I thought it had died. I was ready to contact Nitecore for warranty service. You saved me so much trouble!

I just bought a TM 10K from Amazon. It seemed to charge OK. I plugged it in, and after about 4-5 hours the oled said finished. I unplugged the light, and then despite following directions and even using the suggestions above, the light was completely inert and did nothing including leaving the olded screen dark. I am wondering if nitecore might not br a reliable brand.

No idea sadly. Sorry for the delay. I would contact Nitecore if you haven’t already returned the unit.
